# AWS: Creating And Assigning Policy to IAM Users

1. Open the **AWS Management Console** and navigate to the **Identity and Access Management (IAM).**
    
2. Click on **Users** from the left navigation panel.
    
3. Click **Create user**.

4. Assign a suitable name to the user.
    
5. Select **Provide user access to the AWS Management Console**.
    
6. Select **I want to create an IAM user.**

7. Select **Custom password** and enter a password fulfilling the criteria.

8. Uncheck **Users must create a new password at next sign-in** for now.
    
9. Click **Next**.
    
10. Select **Attach policies directly**.

11. Search **AmazonEC2ReadOnlyAccess** and select it.

12. Click **Next**.
    
13. Scroll and click **Create user**.
    
14. Now create an EC2 instance and log in as an IAM user using the user name and password just created to check the newly created EC2 instances.
    
15. To delete a user, select the user -> **Delete** -> type the user name -> **Delete user**.
